While attending the public meeting of the CSU Board of Trustees on Nov 15th along with a student-faculty contingent speaking against tuition increase of $498, Ashley Wardle, a SDSU Sociology Graduate Student, was randomly arrested while protesting the barring of studentsand faculty from the meeting.
After being randomly arrested and released, the CSU administration has decided to make an example of her with a possible 2 year suspension.
Needless to say, we will not stand by while student-activists such as Ashley are penalized for standing for rights of students, and we demand an immediate stop to persecution of politically active students.
Much like the bail out of the banks by the government at the expense of working people, CSU trustees have awarded Mr. Hirchmann a salary increase at the time when CSU system is facing a $100 million budget cut for the 2011-2012 year.
